O ye who believe! Be not like the Unbelievers, who say of their brethren, when they are travelling through the Earth or engaged in fighting: "If they had stayed with us, they would not have died, or been slain." This that Allah may make it a cause of sighs and regrets in their hearts.It is Allah that gives Life and Death, and Allah sees well all that ye do. (Surah Al-Imran, 156)
There are certainly among you men who would tarry behind: If a misfortune befalls you, they say: "(Allah) did favour us in that we were not present among them." (Surah An-Nisa, 72)
But if good fortune comes to you from Allah, they would be sure to say - as if there had never been Ties of affection between you and them - "Oh! I wish I had been with them; a fine thing should I then have made of it!" (Surah An-Nisa, 73)
O ye who believe! when ye meet the Unbelievers in hostile array, never turn your backs to them. (Surah Al-Anfal, 15)
If any do turn his back to them on such a day - unless it be in a stratagem of war, or to retreat to a troop (of his own)- he draws on himself the wrath of Allah, and his abode is Hell,- an evil refuge (indeed)! (Surah Al-Anfal, 16)
Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day ask thee for no exemption from fighting with their goods and persons.And Allah knoweth well those who do their duty. (Surah At-Tawba, 44)
Among them is (many) a man who says: "Grant me exemption and draw me not into trial." Have they not fallen into trial already? and indeed Hell surrounds the Unbelievers (on all sides). (Surah At-Tawba, 49)
They swear by Allah that they are indeed of you; but they are not of you: yet they are afraid (to appear in their true colours). (Surah At-Tawba, 56)
If they could find a place to flee to, or caves, or a place of concealment, they would turn straightaway thereto, with an obstinate rush. (Surah At-Tawba, 57)
